Conocido también como Castillo dePardo de Cela, por ser el lugar donde fue detenido el Mariscal Pero Pardo de Cela. Partidario de La Beltraneja y opuesto a Isabel la Católica, el obispado de Mondoñedo, mediante oficio del Real Corregidor, le reclamó los bienes que el obispo Pedro Enríquez de Castro había entregado a su sobrina Isabel de Castro, esposa del mariscal. Negose a devolverlos, siendo juzgado en rebeldía y condenado a muerte. Traicionado por sus criados, fue apresado y conducido a Mondoñedo. Su esposa obtuvo el indulto de Isabel la Católica, pero sus enemigos retuvieron al correo el tiempo necesario para que fuera ajusticiado, junto con su hijo, en la plaza de la catedral de Mondoñedo, el 17 de diciembre de 1483. A partir de entonces, su nombre pasó a la leyenda, siendo objeto de coplas y romances. La fotografía del mariscal, y parte de su leyenda, están sacadas de Wikipedia. La banda sonora es de Milladoiro (Polca dos campaneiros), a excepción del comienzo, que es sonido directo de la iglesia del castillo.

Behind the famous Sensoji temple in Asakusa (Tokyo) is a local neighborhood where they hold the annual Ichiyo Sakura Festival in April along the main street lined with Ichiyo cherry blossoms.
