A contemporary of Raffaele Calace, Giuseppe Manente (1867-1941) wrote numerous pieces for mandolin ensemble in a traditional, lyrical Italian style that are still popular with mandolin orchestras worldwide today. This composition, like many other fine works for this instrument strength, are found in the public Nakano Mandolin Music Collection brought together by the Japanese scholar, composer, guitarist and mandolinist Jiro Nakano (1902-2000). The "Rêverie de Poète" by Manente is beautiful example of a slow tempo composition that shows the beauty of sound created by a mandolin orchestra. Especially there where superb tremolo lines in the upper and middle voices are carried by carefully placed chords and bass notes the tremolo of the mandolin indeed comes very close to, perhaps even equals the singing voice of the violin. The work is heard here performed by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra HET CONSORT conducted by Alex Timmerman. This video was made during a concert of the orchestra in the local Church, the GROTE KERK in Meppel (Netherlands), October 2007. I hope to make better videos in the near future. I mixed the original song in order to remove all I could from the original guitar solo. Yet, I didnt manage to remove it all, so you may still listen to Petrucci at some specific parts of the video. Of course I still need to practice a lot (like everything else) but thats getting really nice. Follow me: @MattManente Arpeggio Section from the first part of "The Glass Prison", Reflection. It is still a little bit sloopy, maybe in the future Ill record this one again. I left a little bit of the cameras audio into the mix so it gave a little ambience to the audio. Nice effect. The guitar was plugged line-in passing through Amplitube and Guitarhacks Impulses. To create the backtrack, I recorded the bass, and also programmed the drums and a synth simulating the rhythm guitar. Unfortunately I could not find out the original song from which this theme came from (according to my research, its not on the two Watchtower albuns, nor on Rons solo albums). Yet this is a great piece of music that I tried to cover here. Ron, youre a genius. This was kind of a experiment with my equipment. I made more than one audio take, and some of them are a bit sloopy, I had no opportunity to correct them. Yet, the result is really nice, and so I decided to post it here on youtube.
