RIO PORCOS IBIAS - ASTURIAS Está situado en el extremo suroccidental del Principado de Asturias y ocupa una extensión territorial de 331 km2. Su relieve se caracteriza al Norte y al Este por la existencia de grandes lomas de cumbre redondeada, chaos o campas. Al Sudeste la topografía es muy accidentada, con alturas que sobrepasan los 1.500 metros, lo que le confiere a Ibias un paisaje espectacular. En su territorio se encuentra una gran parte de la reserva de Muniellos (La Reserva Biológica de Muniellos, declarada por la UNESCO como Reserva de la Biosfera en noviembre de 2000). El sur del concejo de Ibias, junto con parte de los concejos de Cangas del Narcea y Degaña formará parte del futuro espacio protegido de Parque Natural de las Fuentes del Narcea y del Ibias. Con esta figura de protección lo recoge el Plan de Ordenación de los Recursos Naturales de Asturias (PORNA, aprobado por Decreto 38/1994, del 19 de Mayo). Tradicionalmente las actividades económicas de mayor arraigo han sido la agricultura y la ganadería, revistiendo especial importancia los cultivos de centeno y trigo, la viña y la apicultura. En los años sesenta las actividades agropecuarias ceden terreno al iniciarse la explotación de los yacimientos de antracita del valle de Luiña por parte de la empresa Minas de Tormaleo.
