The Prelude from the 1st Cello Suite by JS Bach transcribed, and played, by me, Samantha Muir. I used the Barenreiter Urtext Edition for cello and transcribed it directly into guitar notation. The original key is G Major and it is normally played on the guitar in D, but I have chosen C Major because I believe it suits the joyous, uplifting feel of this opening prelude. I have not added or changed any notes. Guitarists do like to add extra bass notes but I believe the natural resonance of some cross string fingerings is sufficient. If I were being sent to a deserted island and could only choose 10 pieces to take with me this would be my number 1! I hope you enjoy! Thanks to Josie for the pics! And to Tom the cat prrrrr!
