Stop by www.jalonwatts.com 12 year old Artist Jalon Watts, managed by Ken Kragen (We Are The World) (The Music Associates) and Pat Melfi (StarPointe Records) and former VP MCA Records, performs COME HOME for the Childhelp 50th Anniversary Celebration, filmed at Washington DCs Warner Theatre on April 13, 2010. In addition to Jalon, the event hosted by David Foster included performances by Charice, Brian McKnight, Ruben Studdard (American Idol) and Patty LaBelle. The song COME HOME was written for Jalon by Country Music Hall of Famer Steve Wariner, American Songwriters Guild President Rick Carnes and US Senator Orrin Hatch Childhelp is one of the nations oldest and largest non-profit organizations dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. The event included a special introduction from First Lady Michelle Obama, and the impressive guest list included Childhelp founders Sara Omera and Yvonne Fedderson, also attending were Jane Seymour, Alan Newman, Pat Melfi, Ken Kragen, BET and Senators Feinstein, Dodd and Hatch just to name just a few.

The first movement, Preludio Saudade, from La Catedral by Barrios played by me, Samantha Muir. La Catedral was written in 1914 after Barrios visited the Cathedral of San Jose in Montevideo, Uraguay. One day Barrios was passing by the church when he heard the music of JS Bach being played on the great organ. He went inside to listen to the music. The 2nd movement, Andante Religioso, reflects this experience. After listening to the music he returned to the busy, bustling street full of light and movement... This is captured in the 3rd movement, Allegro Solemne. The work was originally just 2 movements but in 1938 Barrios wrote the beautiful Preludio Saudade for his wife Gloria and decided to add it to La Catedral as a 1st movement. The movement adds a prayer-like stillness to the work. La Catedral is my favourite guitar work. I think of it as beauty and the beast - the 1st and 2nd movements are "beauty" and the 3rd movement is a real beast to play! I will be uploading the other 2 movements shortly....
