Entry from: Frigiliana, Spain and Canary Islands Entry Title: "Thanksgiving in Frigiliana" Entry: "The train trip from Barcelona to Malaga, Spain took just about 5 hours on one of the super-fast trains in Spain. After having our passports checked and our backpacks x-rayed at the train station of Barcelona, we took the escalator down to the loading area. This was the first (and only) train we have traveled on that felt like an airport security check. Each train car had a host to guide us to our seats after checking our tickets. Once the train was ready to begin its journey, the small TV turned on and a safety film was shown, after all, we were going to be traveling at almost 200 miles per hour! Our train traveled most of the time at speeds of 300 km per hour (or just about 190 miles per hour). Spain has some beautiful countryside! There are mountains, ocean views, vineyards, small villages, and deserts. We traveled through all of these areas. Aside from the hacking and coughing going on by a few people in our car, it was a wonderful train trip (we referred to our car as the sick bay). We spent the next week in the beautiful village of Frigliana, Spain (about 40 miles east of Malaga). We took a bus to the coastal city of Nerja and then a 10 minute bus ride into the hills of Frigiliana. Frigiliana ...

This group of Galway walkers made a visit to Frigiliana in May 2011. They stayed for one week and we went on several hikes through the mountains of this beautiful Natural Park.
