Martin Straubel (piano) Sofia Fomina was born in 1982.She studied singing at the Orlovsk Music College and the Academy of Music from Moscow.Her teachers are GNZnamenskaya,ZADolukhanova and PAKudriavcienko.She has attended master-classes given by Michael Pole and Eva Martson. She was a prize-winner at the 9.International Mozart Competition Salzburg 2006.Sofia Fomina sang the role of Despina in Mozarts Cosi fan tutte;Susanna in Mozarts Le nozze di Figaro in the Novosibirsk Opera Theatre under Theodor Kurentsis;was a solist in Carl Orffs Carmina Burana,Mozarts motet Exultate jubilate,Handel Dixit dominus She took part in the 7th Sviridov Festival and in the festival Three Centuries of Classical Art Song.She held song and lied recitals in Japan,Letuan. Her repertoire includes Belinda Dido and Aeneas,Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro, Despina Cosi fan tutte, Musetta,Mimi La Boheme. Marfa Tsars Bride, Snow maiden Snow maiden, and Ludmila Ruslan and Ludmila.

Tchaikovsky The Slippers Final Scene Act I part 1 Konstantin Lissovsky tenor Nina Fomina soprano Fedoseyev cond. In two parts, the finale to Act 1 of Tchaikovskys tuneful, lively opera The Slippers resembles a Broadway musical at times. Warm, richly melodious, touched by Tchaikovskys special magic, the conducting and singing in this performance are of an exceptionally high calibre. Lissovskys rich and virile voice is filled with emotion and heroic drama. I think he has one of the most beautiful male voices Ive ever heard. But recordings of him are rare. He appears on Rimsky-Korsakovs May Night, also an ideal romantic lead, singing with heart melting warmth and tenderness. Information about the lovely Nina Fomina is almost non-existent on the internet, aside from listings for a few recordings. Her clear, lyric soprano voice is beautiful, she is a great singing actress, and sadly, this is the only recording with her I could find. I wonder if she defected and was erased by the Soviets like so many other artists. If anyone has more information about these splendid artists, please let us know.
